Electrical Question from Dave about Ceiling Fan Wiring
[AD#cube]Interview: How do I connect the wires for my ceiling fan?
I'm replacing an old cap fan. The new rooter calls for a background conducting wire, a neutral wire, and a hot cable. The old fan was connected to a land, a neutral, a hot, and a fourth red cable that I presume is an additional warm. Neither the old nor the new devotee has a light. My question is what do I do with the extra hot wire in the cap?
Thanks
Backdrop: Dave, a Homeowner from Madison Wisconsin.
Dave's Response:
Ceiling Rooter Wiring
Thanks for your electrical oppugn Dave. A red wire up in the ceiling fan colligation box ordinarily indicates that the wiring has been installed which provides class change over for the light and a separate switch for the lover motor. If your ceiling fan does not have a light mending, then only cap off the red wire and tie the lover motor to the black cable.
